In the mid-1990s, to evaluate future aircraft types for regional routes, China Airlines leased two A320s (3B-RGY and 3B-RGZ) from Airbus between 1994 and 1997, primarily operating regional international routes departing from Kaohsiung (such as Hong Kong and Bangkok). Interestingly, these two aircraft used the "Mauritius" registration number (3B-) instead of the more common B- registration number at the time. Although these two A320s were eventually returned to the lease in 1997 due to data considerations, they laid the historical groundwork for China Airlines' later formal introduction of the A321neo. This model accurately recreates the livery and details of their original takeoffs and landings at Kai Tak Airport, making it a must-have collectible for military and aviation enthusiasts.
